History

The forerunner of Twin City Bible Church was the Sattes Community Church, located about 1 mile east of our present site near the St. Albans/Nitro bridge. Don Cummings became the full time pastor of that congregation in 1969. He had a vision for a strong, fundamental, missions minded church to grow and reach many for Christ in our community.  Under his leadership, in 1976, the present property was purchased and plans were made for construction of a church building.  Dr Lester Pipkin, president of Appalachian Bible College, dedicated the property to the Lord before construction began for the church, which was to be renamed the Twin City Bible Church.  Pastor Cummings served the church until the spring of 1986 and in late fall of that year, Pastor Norris Belcher from the Bell Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Dixie, WV accepted a call to become the church’s second full time Senior Pastor. Under Pastor Belcher’s leadership, the church continued to grow, many were saved, and the education/gymnasium addition to the church was constructed.

Pastor Belcher served until the spring of 1990.  In February 1991, Pastor Bill Egerdahl was called to Twin City from Lawrence, Kansas and he faithfully served until July of 2007.  Although several from our congregation had been called to the ministry or mission field over the years, a hallmark of Pastor Egerdahl’s ministry was his mentoring of young men for the gospel ministry. In addition to summer interns already called to full time service, many others responded from our own congregation to the ministry or mission field under his leadership.  Presently, our church is privileged to have Pastor Scott Bandy serving as the fourth Senior Pastor in the Church’s history, who was one of those men who answered the call of God from our own congregation.
